It might be a coincidence that you developed pain .May be that the Doctor examined you for pre existing TMJ problem and by opening your mouth too wide has caused onset of symptoms..You should avoid opening your mouth too wide and avoid eating hard food .If you have been advised TMJ treatment, you should not delay and take pain medication in the mean time depending on your health history.
