A 33-year-old female asked:
1.i've been prescribed 20mg of prednisone to be taken twice daily for 5 days. do i take both pills at the same time or 1 in am, 1 pm? 2.i'm scheduled for a tattoo today (day 2) in memory of my brother. is that ok since i'm not long term steriod user?

It’s better to take Steroids (Prednisone) all in the morning, with breakfast, because it mimics the normal cycle that your body would be releasing them.They can cause you to be more active,anxious and hungry, If you take them in PM, you’ll have insomnia.I’d recommend to delay your tattoo bc it’s easier to get it infected but especially, it heals slowly.

Agree with Dr Rueda, and she makes some excellent points. A Johns Hopkins study showed that taking steroids once daily decreased adverse effects similar to taking these every other day, so, take all in morning as advised. Delay your tattoo until dosing of Prednisone is finished.
