Is it ok to take a daily oral steroid for asthma like, pulmicort, when you are already taking methotrexate and prednisone 9 mg, for dermatomyositis?

Probably: It is not ideal to take long term oral steroids, which are associated with osteoporosis, immunosuppression, and diabetes just to name a few things; but if you are already taking oral Prednisone daily, the addition of plumicort will probably not dramatically change your complication risk. Make sure all your doctors know all the medications you are taking. Thank you.

yes: Pulmicort is inhaled and hardly ever causes systemic side effects. Very safe medication and nothing to worry. Prednisone has many more side effects although 9 mg is a low dose.
