Orthostatic hypotension due to depletion of circulating blood volume, causes salt craving as salt helps to retain fluid within the circulation and therefore allows blood to reach the brain and also maintains blood pressure. Check blood pressure and heart rate laying down and then standing up - blood pressure drop with heart rate increase suggests autonomic nervous system dysfunction aka POTS.
