How do you get diabetes type 1 (out of interest) like do you get diabetes type 1 from eating too much sugar or salt or whatever or is it something your are born with?

Type 1 DM or diabetes related to total loss of Insulin production is common to kids but rare in adults. An infection trigger by a gut virus is followed by development of antibodies that attack islet cell Insulin production. When islet cells stop making insulin T1DM results. Overweight adults make their own insulin but not enough for their needs. In short, their overeating of any foods can do it.
