A member asked:

Can you get diabetes from eating a lot of sugar at once?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not sugar: Diabetes is not related to your intake of sugar; actually sugar has few calories, but they are empty calories without nutrition. Adult (or type 2) diabetes is more common as you get older, if you have a family history of diabetes -- and is 70-90% related to weight. As you gain weight you become more resistant to Insulin until your pancreas is overwhelmed. It's the only risk factor you can control.
