A member asked:

I was taking ibuprofen800mg /per day for a week. i have read that ibuprofen may affect a "transitory" rise in lfts in around 15% of those taking it (mild rise in alt). how long after ibuprofen cessation would this potential effect be negated?

The half life of Ibuprofen in the body is about 6-8 hours, but the effects on the Liver depends on the health of the liver at the time the Ibuprofen was taken. Elevated LFT indicates inflammation which can be notoriously difficult to reduce in persons who have concurrent damage due to medications, alcohol and other disease processes. Increase your water intake, abstain from alcohol and fatty foods
