Possible answer: Dermatologists sometimes offer steroid injections to make pimples less noticeable. When person is sick the body naturally releases steroids from the adrenal glands. I do not suggest routine use of steroids for acne. Steroid abuse can trigger a systemic illness called acne fulminans. This can destroy muscles and joints. Steroid injections can also cause lightening and thinning of the skin.
