Radiological resolution of pneumonia may take longer, up to a month for 2/3 of patients with mild to moderate pneumonia, longer for severe cases, 6-8 weeks. Antibiotics are not needed past the acute phase and providing no other cause is found for pneumonia, such as tuberculosis or fungal for example. Follow up remains important to ensure clearance.
