Reflux can trigger asthmatic symptoms when particles irritate the trachea, but acid in the esophagus can also provoke asthmatic symptoms by a reflex which affects the trachea. Cough,wheezing and difficulty exhaling rather than inhaling are the characteristic symptoms.
