A good means to attenuate depression is serious exercise. Take up longer distance walking or running. Start slowly but work your way up to a good distance or a good pace. This works more often than you might think.

If finances are a problem you may want to try this APP - Headspace - to help you with meditation. When you have insurance please see a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in multiple types of psychotherapy and Psychiatrist for a medication evaluation. It is important to get positive feedback from your environment and being depressed you may pull back, isolate and then miss out.

Regular aerobic exercise is as effective as medication, for mild to moderate depression. Not easy to do, but start your day with 30 minutes of exercise and you will see improvement in your psyche. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.
