A member asked:

I got a blister on the sole of my toe after i went for a long walk in bad shoes about a week ago. it still hasnt healed. i saw that friction blisters should take about a week to heal. if i continue to walk everyday does this make healing slower?

Yes, specifically with same shoes. If the mechanism that has caused your blister continues on a daily basis, that will impair healing as mechanical pressure and friction should be avoided if possible until healed.

Blisters typically are a ‘bubble’,of skin containing fluid. If you continue to walk on it, it will continue to be irritated, delaying healing. The biggest potential risk is an infection from bacteria in your shoe. Purchase corn or callous ‘donut’ pads to protect this area during healing, and it should heal uneventfully. Consider using a better fitting shoe for the next hike. Good luck
