Dries nails: Skin and nails are related in their ectodermal origin. Accutane dries the skin and can dry nails causing them to be brittle.Nails can be slow growing. But it will take several months for the new healthy nail to grow out. Paronychia, infection of nail folds, usually with staph. Aureus occurs in ingrown , chewed or picked nails. With discontinuance of drug, nails eventually heal.
