A member asked:

My hand is still tight after an operation and occupational therapy. it was from a third degree burn. is this normal and if yes how long will it still last? it's been a year already. can i do anything about it? thank you?

At this point, sufficient time has elapsed for full healing, and unlikely to experience further spontaneous improvement. Would continue flexibility exercises, and strengthening, which presumably were instructed during hand therapy. Might return to OT to learn compensatory interventions to enhance function. Good luck.

If you had skin grafting this could be a contracture and not unusual. At a years time the scaring should have matured so you may require a release and a secondary graft. See a plastic or hand surgeon.
