You are talking about the infection fatality rate (number of deaths over total number in population who have COVID), which is much lower than the case fatality rate. I have welcomed that news from the start, to try to keep people from being too frightened. Others have believed if people aren't somewhat frightened, many people will not take appropriate precautions and more people will die.

I am not sure what you mean that the medical community does not like it? There is a great deal of political discussion on the effects of COVID 19. Facts include that most people do very well with COVID 19, many had it and never know it, some get very sick and some die. Why wouldn't anyone do everything they can to stop the spread of a virus that can kill, even a small portion of a population?
