I had uti i took antibiotics for 6days i was ok then after a week uti returns my doc told me to eat antibiotics for another 5 days is it ok to eat antibiotics for that many days why it doesn't end uti ?

UTI’s are not as common in young men and in case your symptoms persist, cultures will be needed as alternate diagnoses will have to be considered and/or work up for predisposing conditions to UTI’s. If cultures reveal multi drug resistant bacteria targeted iv antibiotics may be needed.

You may not be on appropriate antibiotic for your UTI & urine culture is advised to ensure that UTI bacteria are sensitive to antibiotic prescribed. In which case different antibiotic would need to be prescribed. UTIs in young men, if uncircumcised, can be due to problems with foreskin hygiene. Foreskin should be easily retractile, retracted when urinating & when washing daily.
