Ghe had shoulder surgery (labral tear, 36 hrs ago) he was prescribed 10mg hydrocodone but that is not knocking down the pain. is it ok to give him a half pill (5mg) in a couple of hours. he is 61 and 185?

Without an understanding of his medical history, surgical course and examination, it is difficult to give advice. Talk to his surgeon and explain the problem. They can adjust his medication or add an additional medication for adequate pain relief. They may also suggest using OTC pain relievers (Acetaminophen/ Ibuprofen) in addition to the hydrocodone.
