A member asked:

I've been recently diagnosed with astigmatism and does it get worse and eventually lead to blindness or cataracts or something bad like that im really worried about it i have it in both eyes worse in right?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Astigmatism almost always is a muscular problem of your eyes, NOT an intrinsic problem with the eye itself. So no, you don't go blindfold get cataracts from having astigmatism. It can worsen if you don't do any eye exercises you are prescribed or fail to wear any of glasses you are given to try to improve your condition. Just follow what eye doctor tells you.Millions of people have astigmatism!
