Noticed a pattern of migraine day before my period and heart palpitations. what can be the cause? if hormones would birth control help or make worse?

A drop in estrogen levels in the days just before the period is thought to be the cause of perimenstrual migraine headaches(&palpitations& the treatment is giving estrogen to prevent them. However I would be guided by your gynecologist&GP in this matter and be assured that there are no medical risks in such therapy in your particular history such as smoking,TIA's, untreated hypertension, diabetes

Menstrually related migraines are quite common and the triptan drug Frova has proven to help when these occur. Preventative meds are available if this also occurs frequently between menses. Hormonal treatment in my experience has been hit and miss, and better to focus on specific headache remedies.
