If your child is eating and drinking, and has usual activity level, playing, moving around the home, then keeping hydrated is more important than controlling the fever. At 5-7 days of continuous fever, many doctors would obtain some lab tests. Fever is not inherently dangerous, and is part of the body's defenses to fight infection.
