Problems with irregular prolonged bleeding are due to either hormones or the uterus. A Gyn Dr can do an ultrasound to look at your uterus and determine if there is some abnormality causing the bleeding. Typical findings include fibroids, adenomyosis and ovarian cysts. Cancer is more rare.
