Confused.on what side is the pancreas and would a abdominal ultrasound show pancreatic cancer, ? also have had avdominal ct scan within past 18 mths.

Pancreas: The pancreas is located in the upper central abdominal area near the back bone (vetebral column) and extends toward the left side. A ct scan would be more accurate in evaluating the pancreas. An ultrasound may or may not see some of the pancreas, as it is often obscured by intestinal gas. A pancreas mass may have to be relatively larger to be seen on ultrasound.

I am still so anxious about having pancreatic cancer. My lipase levels have fluctuated slightly over the past year - from 1 to 20 points over the reference range. I've had normal ultrasound and CT scan. Dr seems to think it's just me. But why??
