Sharp and, at times, jabbing head pains are neuralgia or irritability of superficial scalp nerves. These can be above the eye or in the back of the head (occipital neuralgia) emanating from the upper neck radiating up the scalp. This is more of a nuisance rather than a serious disorder and tends to resolve without any treatment.
