Spider Veins: Spider veins can be symptom of deeper problem or may not. Spider veins typically do not cause pain themselves so i would recommend to to get an ultrasound to determine their severity. Some symptoms of vein disease are swollen legs, leg pain and fatigue, burning, itching, and cramps especially at night. If deeper problems found, then first need treat them and spider veins may go away after that.

Venous insufficiency: Spider veins shouldn't hurt. They may be a sign of venous insufficiency which does cause muscle pain and is a treatable medical condition. See a vein specialist or phlebologist. Phlebology.Org for a referral.
