To qualify for hospice, one needs to have a prognosis of 12 months or less. But, there are patients who continue to live beyond that time and some can improve, depending on the disease. So, hospice doesn’t always mean dying. Hospice provides a lot of support that helps keep people out of the hospital so that there is a good quality of life. Best of luck to you and your mother!
