In the actual hygiene visit there are no antibiotics used. If you are being treated for periodontal disease, then antibiotics can be used as part of the treatment.

No!: No we do ot use antibiotics when we clean teeth, in fact the object of the excercise is to prevent you having the kind of infections that would need antibiotic therapy. There was a spell a few years ago when the drug companies tried to persuade dentist to deliver antibiotics to deep gum pockets, and it was pricey. The results were extremely unimpressive. The answer is no!
