Good question!. Are you able to take part in the activity without cardiac symptoms of shortness of breath or chest symptoms? The cardiologist may say you can function well and proceed with risk Or you have signs of cardiac dysfunction so significant that it requires catheterization. Either way, you probably need to take aspirin and high-dose cholesterol medication. See your doctor

Agree with Dr Romano. Since this is an elective procedure, suggest delay for a time and address fully the cardiac risk factors. Medications may well prevent cardiac events at the time of surgery, and the anesthesiologist will likely be quite attentive.
