Hyperextension or straining of any ligament in the knee due to awkward positioning or keeping it in one unnatural position for a long while can result in temporary pain. Try to avoid the positioning that caused the pain initially and keep your leg bent between only 45-90 degrees. Use cold compresses to alleviate the pain and reduce any inflammation.
