Any mass within or on the scrotum requires an examination and potentially imaging to determine if it is a benign condition (hydrocele/varicocele) or something more serious. Since it is not painful, it is not torsion. The Dr will palpate the region to get an idea of whether the mass is superficial or somehow related to the testes. They may utilize an ultrasound to better visualize the area.
