A bleeding history with the pregnancy now at "17 weeks" could represent a partial placenta previa, and as the uterus grows with the advancing pregnancy, the edge of the placenta over the cervical canal (i.e., partial previa) will recede and not cause further bleeding. Ask your OB about an ultrasound to evaluate the location presently of the placental edge.
