NSAIDs: I understand your trepidation. You may want to discuss nsaids with your physician. Thee are drugs like Ibuprofen and naproxen. Of course like all drugs they are not without side effects like GI ulcers, rectal bleeding.Etc. Talk it over with your physician.

Few options: Tramadol in combination with no-steroidal anti inflammatory agents like motrin, Naproxen and drugs like Cymbalta (duloxetine) will do the job. Consult a good anesthesia trained pain physician.

NSAIDS like : Ibuprofen are probably your best bet if you are trying to avoid narcotic pain medications. Excessive or prolonged use of them may cause gastrointestinal bleeding, so watch out for that. You might also try an epidural steroid injection. A good pain management physician can help you with this. Just be upfront with them about your reasons for wanting to avoid narcs.
