My experience: Have been thoroughly pleased with many solo practitioners in isolated and rural areas, as they appear in general to compulsively "keep up" and maintain their skills. Have encountered urban physicians who have become arrogant and complacent, so, it takes all types across the board. Usually other doctors are aware of the competence of their colleagues.
