A member asked:

My resting heart rate is usually anywhere from 60-75 bpm but whenever i stand up it can shoot up to anywhere from 90-120 bpm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

May be within normal: It is normal for heart rate to increase when standing up from lying position. How much it will increase depends on how fast you stand up, how long it takes for the rate to be checked, how apprehensive one is. Additional factors include dehydration, concomitant medications etc. For proper interpretation putting the person at ease, a proper explanation of the procedure etc are required. Be reassured
