Sounds like Cankers: Canker sores, or recurrent aphthous ulcers are an autoimmune, inflammatory reaction to trauma, medications, and just about any emotional or physical stress you can imagine--worse if they are combined. They are self-limiting (go away in about 10-14 days) and require no treatment. Pain can be controlled by ibuprofen/acetominophen. If no relief, see dentist for laser or chemical cautery for relief.

Canker sore: If stress is your life cycle than (aphthous ulcers) canker sores are what you get often. Otc cream or gels will help but since it is a virus it will hurt for 3-4 days and then disappear

Oral ulcers: Small painful ulcers inside the mouth often are aphthous stomatitis (canker sores) or herpes, but there is a long list of conditions that have oral ulcers. Some of these conditions have both oral ulcers and genital ulcers. This needs a workup including herpes cultures, levels of iron, vitamins particular b6 and b12, folic acid, and a thorough history and physical exam to rule out other causes.
