Definitely: Snow shoveling is intense enough to cause exacerbation of SI joint OA and/or radiated pain from herniated discs and aside from other musculoskeletal damage. Getting your primary care doc involved in case pain becomes function limiting would be best.

Classic cause: Sorry, but snow shoveling can be a disaster for those with chronic back pain. You mention possibilities and your doctor can sort out. Based upon pain generator, physical therapy is the next step. A sacroiliac belt may be palliative, but not curative.
