I had general anaesthetic yesterday but they seemed to miss the vein, the anaesthetic was injected but didnt put me to sleep, changed arms and it then worked, today my bicep on the side that missed is extemely painful, shoul i be concecerned?

Concerned: Many meds which are tolerated IV can cause irritation when given IM. Symptomatic treatment is generally all,that is necessary ( hot moist packs, massage, topical,or oral NSAIDS. Do watch for purple to black discolorization, broken skin, or any loss of arm/hand function which would require a physician evaluation.

Please call the anesthesiologist and get his/her opinion. Don’t try to deal with it by yourself. For all you as the drug gets absorbed, the matter may resolve. Your Anesthesiologist still needs to be aware and have an opportunity to deal with it in time, in case the matter worsens
