I have a non cancerous tumor on my left lobe of my thyroid that's causing me pain. will the surgeon want to remove it even if the lab work comes back as a normally functioning thyroid? or does there need to be cause other than pain for him to remove?

Pain: Pain will definitely be considered in the decision making as a variety of benign tumors are removed if they start causing symptoms. There are many other variables that will have to be considered and the surgeon assessing remains your best reference going forward.
