A member asked:

Does having o negative blood have any effect on your chances of contracting covid 19, or any protection from a severe case?

Fundamentally, NO: Initial studies from early 2020 had suggested that those with blood types B and AB who were Rh+ were more likely t test positive for coronavirus while those with blood type O were less likely. Subsequent studies have contradicted these finding and, at least at this moment, blood type does not influence risk of disease or severity of disease

COVID 19 : I agree with Dr. Dr. Arnold Lentnek. It had previously been reported that blood type could effect severity of COVID 19 infection. However, that is not born out with a more recent study at Mass General Hospital. REF: https://hms.harvard.edu/magazine/skin/covid-19-severity-not-linked-blood-type
