Why do teens talk to their friends more than their parents?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It's easier: In a normal day teens will spend hours of each day in school or other activities sharing thoughts with their peer group. Their parents will see them a few minutes in the AM & maybe an hour or so in the evenings. It would be nice if they were relaxed & felt secure talking with parents, but the peers are easier. It can be different but you must work to make it so.
