Y daughter fell weird of her skateboard and was in a lot of pain she now has a swelling on the side of her shin, how do i know if it just need elevation and ice or if something more seriousthat needs an xray?

You don’t know: Could be just a soft tissue contusion (bruise) or it could be a fracture. You (and the doctor) don’t really know until you take an x-ray. Most of the time its just a bruise and needs an ice pack and Tylenol. But again, there is no way of telling without an x-ray If you go to Urgent Care, check ahead of time if they can do leg x-rays.
