Yes: The ankle will swell for quite some time. Ice several times daily, elevate the extremity and if you can safely take it, ibuprofen will help. Once you can begin range of motion this should help with swelling as well. If you are not in one I would recommend a pneumatic cam walker and ask your physician for consult for physical therapy. The therapy will be most important.
