Plaquinil bad choice: If one has documented Rheumatologic arthritis, then advanced, controlled medications are a good option managed usually by a rheumatologist. For routine knee pain due to osteoarthritis we have over the counter meds like Tylenol, all NSAIDs, and some others like chondroitin-glucosamine sulfate, etc. In the injection realm, we have Viscosupplementation gels, steroids and biologics like ACP/PRP
