Variable : If they are only discolored areas caused by past inflammation , they can fade in a 3-6 months . Scars with raised or depressed areas in the skin indicate deeper damage and can take longer and may need consultation with a dermatologist , who might advise topical creams , retinoic skin care products, fillers etc .
