Need serious Rx: Acne on the trunk will not respond adequately just to topical rx alone. Your physician may write for a systemic antibiotic such as tetracycline 500 2x/day, or you may go directly to Accutane if the lesions are cystic / severe. A dermatologist can deal with the scars once the disease settles down. All acne can be controlled nowadays and it should be your right.

Ask dermatologist: There are many good treatments for acne. For severe cases that cause major disfigurement or distress Accutane treatment can be a good long term solution. It is a medication that can only be administered under close supervision by your physician.
