Common: I would not assume anything wrong with the ears or put Vicks on any kid that age (makes their nose stuffy from the smell). Teething sometimes triggers a reflex sensation in the ears. If the kid develops fever over 38 it might be worthwhile to have his ears checked for infection. For most this is nothing important.

Pulling on ears: May have ear infection or may be referred pain from the teething. Unless he has a fever over 100F, I wouldn't be too concerned. Please discontinue the Vicks, will not help either an ear infection or teething. If fever spikes, see PEDIATRICIAN immediately for help in treating ear infection. Make sure your child sees a children's dental specialist, a PEDODONTIST, no later than 1st b'day
