Mostly normal : Floaters are actually tiny clumps of the vitreous gel in your eye casting shadows on your retina , as the vitreous pulls away or detaches from the back of the eye . They are mostly harmless unless you notice loss of vision or a sudden increase in floaters or flashing lights , when they need to be checked by the ophthalmologist . They are more common in myopics .
