A member asked:

Does a abdominal pelvic ct scan with contrast show cancer in coccyx? does the person need to position themselves on their stomach when scanned?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

CT scan of pelvis: A radiologist is best to answer whether the coccyx is visualized in enough detail to see coccyx pathology( the diagnosis of cancer requires a tissue examination) as an incidental finding during a pelvic CT scan, If coccyx pathology is clinically suspected, the ordering physician would specify that he/she requests attention directed at the coccyx when ordering the CT scan of the coccyx and sacrum.
