Hi doc my son who will be 11 months in two weeks was exclusively breastfed i have now managed to wean him and he seems to be taking it well, however he refuses formula. he drinks rooibos tea and water at night. will this pose any danger?

Infant feeding: Feeding recommendations for infants suggest using breastfeeding or formula to one year, then transitioning to milk. Since he refuses formula, you should offer him milk. He should be eating 3 meals and 2 snacks with the milk offered in a sippy cup after the food. The Rooibos tea is fine as it is non caffeinated and a good source or copper, fluoride and polyphenols.

Let other feed him: These kids will often refuse formula if you are nearby & they want the real thing. I would schedule times to be away from the kid when feeds are due & have others feed him. If hungry, he will begin to accept the process. He needs the calcium & proteins in the formula which tea or water will not provide. It may take a few days but usually works well.
