A member asked:

I'm 32 years old, 15 weeks pregnant. nt scan, the fluid measured was 1.80mm. i did bloods after this scan and these bloods came back as intermediate. i was then sent for nipt, results came back as high risk for trisomy 13. 4:10. what does it mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Translation: The cell free DNA studies done on maternal blood(nipt) are not conclusive but are ~ 90+% accurate in detecting a chromosomal abnormality in a fetus. An amniocentesis would be the next stage most would do to be conclusive. T13 is a non-survivable collection of multiple congenital defects.
