A member asked:

What is subchondral edema associated with the lateral talar dome? the involved segment measures 1cm in transverse dimension by 7 mm ap dimension. is this serious and what is the treatment for this does physical therapy help?

Ask your doctor : Not to sound contrite or facetious but you might want to just ask your doctor what he’s trying to describe to you. It could mean osteochondritis dissecans or a bone fragment to the Talar dome or a “bone bruise”. If the former this responds very well to surgery. Edema could be associated with trauma to the bone itself without fracture.
